I just completed my first 100 mile foot race across the rugged San Gabriel mountains. Gerry Walsh has devised an elaborate system to monitor runners' times in and out of aid stations via ham radio, and a lot of programming and ingenuity. Here is a visualization I created of the dataset.
Dist/time graphs are typically bad ways to visualize one of the most important aspect of an ultrarunner's run: the consistency of pace. So here I am using color to emphasize changes in pace.
